REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMANGGI -- Kepolisian mengeluarkan bentuk plat nomor kendaraan baru. Plat nomor baru ini berukuran lebih panjang dari sebelumnya.

Direktur Direktorat Lalu Lintas (Ditlantas) Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Royke Lumowa mengatakan, plat nomer baru ini telah digunakan sejak sebulan lalu. Menurutnya, panjang plat baru bertambah 4-5 cm dari panjang sebelumnya yang hanya sekitar 25 cm. "Dipanjangkan sedikit," katanya.

Royke mengatakan, plat baru ini menyesuaikan dengan digit huruf belakang nomor kendaraan. Menurutnya, mulai tahun lalu, banyak kendaraan bermotor yang digit huruf belakangnya mencapai tiga huruf."Plat lama tidak cukup tempatnya," kata Royke.

Berbeda dengan plat nomor sebelumnya, plat baru memiliki garis putih sebagai pembatas sisi plat. Garis pemisah antara nomor kendaraan dan tahun berlaku dihilangkan. Lambang kepolisian berukuran lebih besar dan di pinggir plat nomor tertera Korlantas Polri.
